A-cha -- Super Junior [MV + Review]

Super Junior has finally released the MV for 'A-cha', the title song for their follow-up album 'A-cha'. Now, as all of you can probably guess, I am a big, BIG fan of Super Junior and always will be. Which is why it pains me to say that I was so utterly disappointed :(
But before anything else, its just ironic that they decided to name the song 'A-cha' which in Hindi means 'good'. Yes, its actually a Korean word which means something like 'oops' but, whatever! its still ironic :P

THE VIDEO:
Perhaps the most disappointing Super Junior video ever. Or you know, the only one. The thing about the video is that it is not all that different from 'Sorry Sorry'.. or 'Bonamana'.. or 'Mr. Simple'. Basically pretty much all their title songs in the last few years. There is no storyline to the video at all. It just consists consists of random dancing and throwing attitude. And whats with all the mirror effects? It's quite bizarre.
The geometric patterns that form the set are quite loud, but okay. The lights could have been done away with though! It's one of SM's biggest bands, one would expect a better job from those who plan all this! On the whole, it offers nothing new in terms of packaging. And who can ever make out what the song is about from the video? There is no connection between the song and the video whatsoever! We thought it was a happy song until we read the translations!
So unless there is some deeper meaning hidden somewhere way, way down in the recesses of this video, it is pretty much pointless!
Score: 1.5/5 (only because it has Super Junior members in it)

THE DANCE:
As much as I dislike the MV, the dance is pretty freaking awesome! The steps are really good and were performed with the right amount of attitude. Of course, its Super Junior we are talking about here! :D The only thing that I missed would be the dance-only part that I had come to identify with Super Junior. I used to wait to see Eunhyuk, Donghae, Shindong and the other members blow me away with their dance. Oh well.
Score: 4/5

THE LOOK:
Let's not even go into the fact that it looks like Bonamana's identical twin (repackaged!):P! Sungmin's sweater? Atrocious! Heechul's clothes are great in the second cut (with the black jacket with red embroidery), but it just goes downhill from there on. Tacky accessories, badly cut clothes are all we get to see! Siwon's retelecasted shirtless look gets a thumbs-down for being around too often! And why on earth is Yesung dressed like a Spanish bull-fighter? :O Ryewook looks great in the blue shirt! and Donghae, I love you, i do, but the track pants and what appears to be a bedsheet is not cool, at all [But you're still hot ^-^]. Eunhyuk looks good, I am quite liking his blonde look now. But the fur cap stops you from looking perfect. :( and have I not seen something like that cap in another Super Junior video?! On a better note, Shindong buddy, getting hotter by the day, aren't we? Yes, Shindong's new look is the saving grace of the MV apart from Heenim's red and black appearance! Kyuhyun looks good too, as always! But wah! Leeteuk! looking hot as ever! :D Love your clothes as well!
Score: 3/5

THE SONG:
The song in itself does not have any faults as such. Although I had not liked it at first, the song has slowly grown on me. I love the chorus the most. Nobody can deny that it it's really catchy! The only problem I would have with the song is the fact that you have to listen to it carefully before you understand who is singing what part. Their voices sound really similar which is quite shocking since most members have voices which are completely different from that of the the others.
The song is basically about a guy singing about how the love of his life is not contributing to their relationship and asks her not to leave him. Although when you first hear the song, a non-Hangul speaker like me would think that the song doesn't have a meaning to it as such, on reading the translations I realized that the lyrics are actually quite nice.
Score: 4/5

GRAND TOTAL: 1.5+4.5+3+4=12.5/20 :'(

So in the end what we have is a catchy song with nice beats that would have done way better if only SM had been kind enough to give them a better MV and better clothes to some of the members(Sorry, but its true).
But no matter what, STILL LOVE SUPER JUNIOR!
Proud to be an E.L.F. :) only they are capable of saving such a video!

Super Junior Fighting! :)
